how it's going to require people reaching out to these untouchables, the social pariahs, and how doing so will jsut get you dragged down along with them

The thing is, most of the time they don't drag you down until they are too far gone to even save.

It'll certainly feel like they are, and you will be met with a lot of resistance, but once years of grime and buildup have been shaken off their mental state you'll look back and realize it was easier to pull them out of it than most "white girls with anxiety and depression" that make up half of the high schools.

Literally just a single outstretched hand is often enough to turn a school shooter into just an awkward dude. It won't fix him completely, unless that hand is a mega Chad, but it'll keep his focus forward instead of stewing.

Which is why I have nothing but bile for people who whinge endlessly about teens, school shooters and the like, but haven't spent a moment in the local Big Brother program. Literally 3 hours a week (that you wouldn't use even slightly productively) and enough tax write offs to mostly break even on most activities, and you turned an entire kid's life around. And that's just one program you can contribute to.
