Because while conservatives arguably had a hand in starting this (Post 9/11), the left took what was already on the books and applied their own rules and criteria while expanding the applications and methods available. Can't target x person because of their race, can't target y person because of their "identity".
And you know damn well that even if those aren't one of the primary reason conservatives try to target a deranged lefty, the media, courts, and political fist of the left will swipe aside any reason or logic in favor of their preferred course of events.
