Portland police officer records video apology to protester for striking her in the head with baton in 2020
Officer Corey Budworth filmed the video apology as part of a “restorative justice” process that resulted in a Multnomah County judge dismissing his fourth-degree assault charge on Friday.
Can I get some 'video apologies' from the thousands of rioters who destroyed businesses and killed people?
Oh, no, they are busy collecting money from the Government for police trying to stop the rampant destruction!

Don't post often but it made me think of this. If only the cop would do it.

I actually was thinking of the South Park apology, but something tells me the judge wouldn't allow it.
That's the punishment for harming a state-sponsored terrorist.
Hey if all I have to do to legally knock some sense into a rioter's head is film a mealy mouthed apology afterwards, I'll count that as a win.
You mean forever ruin his reputation and expose his face to an entire state of people willing to hurt him and his family all to have a fourth degree assault charge removed that was wrongfully charged in the first place?
The lunatics who would hurt him and his already knew his face, he wouldn't have been charged with anything if they couldn't identify him and the woman assaulted would always be informed of his identity.
You should know how these people work by now, his face and details will have been plastered all across their group chats and Twitter feeds since 2020.
As for the rest of the state, I should imagine the only difference the slightly more mainstream coverage has meant is there are a few more people willing to buy him a beer now.
The only outcome of the court case is the state declining to punish him in any real terms.
I don't quite understand how this would be possible. There isn't a Facebook for cops they can just look up.
A random cop who hit someone with a baton? I think you are giving them too much credit. They aren't keeping hit lists of cops with personal information, they just target the ones already in the spotlight.
So if anything NOW he'll be targeted.
I hate this.
It feels like a struggle session. His admission of guilt will be used to harass him relentlessly going forward by the exact kind of person he was forced to apologize to in the first place. And he'll be held to an impossibly high standard when he eventually lashes out against that harassment, while his harassers will be held up as virtuous victims.
Fuck this nonsense. Restorative justice is bullshit.
