One of my many nerd groups I’m is is one for pre-Disney Star Wars fans which is mainly an EU group and we were talking about how all these shill sites have so many good things to say about the EU now when I can remember them talking about how bad it was when Disney took over. Honestly that was my first awareness of the shill media because nerd sites who were pretty positive about the EU all of a sudden started crapping on it once Disney got rid of it.
Some of the guys see this as a positive sign but I guess I’m cynical because I think they just realize that the sequels and a lot of Disney Star Wars isn’t as popular as they want us to believe. Plus I hear the OT toys still sell pretty well.
So what do y’all think? Is this a positive sign or am I right to be cynical?
I guess I'm a 'star wars fan' but I don't hang out in any star wars fan groups but I'm very glad I don't know about this conversation happening as a result. Took me a moment to realise what you're on about but you're talking about expanded universe aren't you? LOL thought you meant the EU ( European Union ) which was daft of me.
Disney fucked up big time with Star Wars and it's amazing but a classic cautionary tale of why you never let SJWs poison the well of your IP under any circumstances. They could have done some really interesting stuff with EU, what I found interesting were the events after the fall of the empire and Luke Skywalker/Mara Jade which is a whole story arc they could have easily lifted and done pretty well at. Hell, even the feminists might have actually liked Mara Jade as a female character and she would have had mass appeal, but she falls in love with Luke Skywalker ( Oh yeah spoilers ) and feminists can't have their female characters developing feelings for those evil straight white men.
As far as I'm concerned any modern canon is fucking dead to me, I initially had a lot of hope for the Mandalorian but I'm convinced the SJWs were waiting for one of the staff to post something they didn't like and give them an excuse to kick shit off and shut down the show by getting rid of Gina Carano and that's what the whole drama was really about.
Once feminists take over a IP, they can't let anything else that isn't related to them succeed and if it does they kill it. They then cling to that IP until they or the IP dies and of course blame the fanbase for not liking whatever shit they pump out. They're like a parasite that will kill their host if removed.
The biggest problem with Mara Jade was that she was an attractive redheaded woman, something you absolutely cannot have in modern movies or TV shows, especially adaptations.
Happened in comics and gaming too. They are so obsessed with getting women in the hobby they never try to get women who were actual fans. I gave Disney Star Wars a chance and Carano being fired was the last straw. Especially with all the anti white stuff or hatred of trump supporters from Pedro Pascal.
