If DeSantis wants to impress me he's going to have to go full 2015 and start saying he will deport faggots and niggers into the sun using SpaceX or something.
There is nothing desantis could say that would convince me his presidential bid is a good idea. We need strong governors. I like the man as the governor of florida - getting a coalition of conservative governors is a potential route to begin tackling federal overreach. Desantis reaching for president in the current environment is short sighted and self centered, and a tacit surrender to uniparty controlled "elections".
People I've had discussions with who actually support desantis presidential bid have admitted to me that they reject the evidence of their own eyes when shown proof of fraud, because it is too big for them to believe. They are blind and it is a form of copium they engage in, tricking themselves into believing that trump actually lost to avoid confronting the reality of our situation.
I've been saying this since the first time I saw someone suggest Desantis run for president. The Federal government is too corrupt to be fixed by replacing one man. We need to start smaller and work our way up, assuming that it's even possible to be fixed.
Desantis seems to be doing a good job as governor, but that's all going to be wasted if he becomes president. They won't let him accomplish anything meaningful at that level. Even if he did somehow get elected, it would just be a waste of time and leave Florida open to having another tool like Jeb as governor.
I mostly agree. He wouldn't be the worst president, and I could conceivably vote for him if I think he beat Trump fairly with no shenanigans. But I would do so extremely reluctantly. For all the good DeSantis has undeniably done, I've never trusted him, and I think he's a snake.
Most importantly, as you say, a vote for him shapes the GOP in ways I really don't like. A vote for DeSantis (again, despite the good qualities I do believe he has) is a vote against "MAGA."
Simple as that, at least in my eyes. The DeSantis camp wants to roll back a lot of the good Trump did for the political landscape.
Nice try DeSantoids, but I'm still voting Trump.
