The Greeks felt like the gods were directly involved in a lot of things that happened, as if the conflict between gods was something that played out in the face of man. The Romans saw them as more of a static and distant force.

Philosophically, the Romans were far more violent, efficient, brutal, and anti-Democratic than Athens, and many Greeks generally.
