I'll be interesting to see how Japanese citizens respond to this. Their culture is very compliant, but they're also quite conservative, and this is an even harder shift for them than it was for us. On the other hand, much their media is already very, uh, zany? Bombastic? They might just see this as another manifestation of that, rather than the subversive push that it is.
