Cool tech. I used to drag out the Wii gun games to play with friends. Ghost Squad is the only one I can think of off hand. Things like that are so fun in groups like that and don't punish non-gamers all that hard. Don't have the Wii anymore, but I kept a couple Wiimotes and dumped all the games for emulators. Never even thought to try actual arcade ones though.
Yeah that’s how I’ve done it so far, a modded Wii goes a LONG way, a ton of great releases (and some shovelware lol) on it and you can emulate most things pre-ps1 with an OK lightgun feel.
Couple things you might be interested in - “dolphin bars” to let you use your Wiimote on dolphin on pc, and a software called “Lichtknarre” which is similar to gun4ir, you attach IR LEDs to your screen but it lets you use a Wiimote with pretty good accuracy (so I hear, looking to order a set of the LEDs on aliexpress soon and try it out before potentially going all the way and setting up gun4ir proper)
