The amazon show, spoiler for the final episode:

She struggled against the older guy in her fight because he was so much bigger on her that she got the advantage of fighting smart and trapping him with the handcuffs before she could grab the gun to shoot him. That's reasonable and inspirational of if you can't overpower your foe, fight smarter.
