They completely ignored the influence peddling aspects of his crimes. This was mostly about giving him a token conviction for crimes that can never be connected to his dad. They absolutely don't want to dig into shit that would prove the old idiot took bribes.
Totally agree about government legitimacy. The only thing seperating us from Russia or Venezuela are the trappings of due process and justice. It's all just a veneer that deceives normies into thinking the system works and is fair.
Look at Jan 6. It was a riot with minor trespassing and property damage. No one brought weapons and there was no coordinated plan to overthrow the government. If there was, all those congressmen would be dead, as they clearly weren't prepared for what happened.
But "OMFG, they breached the capital!" so we're seeing multi-year investigations into what should be misdemeanor charges and congressional hearings. It's revenge because it was Trump supporters that did it.
Has even a single person gone to jail for seizing several city blocks in Seattle, barricading them, and handing out weapons? Oh, that's right BLM/social justice/blah, blah, blah. They get a pass.
