The goal is to deflect from the obvious objection from literally anyone with a functioning brain that "Democrats get away with crime."

Except, they do, and behind the headline as usual, this is the sweetest of sweetheart plea deals ever. Right up there with giving Lois Lerner immunity without also requiring her to testify.

The end result? "See? Hunter was a bad man and we punished him fairly. Now we get to execute Trump for being an evil racist orange man."
