Reddit CEO says the mods leading a punishing blackout are too powerful and he will change the site's rules to weaken them
Steve Huffman said he has planned to change the site's rules so that users had the power to vote out moderators, following a 48-hour protest blackout.
The thing is, he isn't wrong and those ideas should have been in in some form from the start. Like I remember how many random irrelevant video games subs were forced to participate in George Floyd blackouts and posts, entirely on the will of the mods to virtue signal. Even this is mostly mods whining and holding a lot of subs hostage with crying and gaslighting to make them join their side.
But this is entirely a beast of his own creation. They wanted a site that ran itself entirely on unpaid volunteers in massive numbers and now those idiots think they are people.
