The "LGBT Bill," as amended by the ruling party, was passed by the House of Representatives.
A bill to promote understanding of LGBT and other sexual minorities was passed at a plenary session of the House of Representatives on the afternoon of March 13 with a majority vote by the Japan Restoration Association and the Democratic Party of Japan, in addition to the Liberal Democratic Party and New Komeito.
The House of Councillors will now deliberate on the bill, and it is increasingly likely that it will be enacted in the current Diet session.
The so-called "LGBT bill" was initially submitted to the Diet in three drafts, one from the ruling party and two from the opposition parties.
The ruling party, the Japan Restoration Association, and the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) then agreed on a revised version of the bill, changing the expression "gender identity" in the ruling party's proposal to "gender identity" and other changes in line with the claims of the DPJ and the Japan Restoration Association, and the bill was passed by the House of Representatives Cabinet Committee on March 9.

🤔
Why is this something the Diet must get involved in anyway? Does it mandate specific lesson plans in schools? I wonder if pro-Japan anti-subversive educators could use this as an excuse to teach kids the actual truth about LGBT.
