That's what he's saying. The "unpopularity" of those in America is a new phenomenon. The first line of the prayer is (was?) a part of pop culture. If you think most people say 50 years ago would not be able to answer that, I must strongly press (X) to doubt.

I think you'd have to look at it in context of all the other questions they answered. It is weird.
