I'm mainly posting this because I have never, ever heard someone in the Middle East voluntarily declare themselves Palestinian.
The school’s student paper notes that while Abulaban “identifies as a Palestinian woman,” she was actually born in Jordan where she and her family emigrated from.
This is such bizarre shit. Like an American deciding they are Mexican. An incredible victim complex is needed to change your own nationality.

It helps to know that 90%+ of Jordan's population is of Palestinian origin.
Because Jordan was part of the Mandatory Palestine, but they usually don't like acknowledging that they have 80% of the Mandate at this point.
Correct. It is like calling yourself a Gypsy in Europe, nobody born outside of Palestine ever refers to themselves as 'Palestinian'.
The Middle East considers Palestinians to be subhuman.
More like the only way of not being stateless was to pretend to be a citizen of these places.
