I'd say don't buy apple because their protects are build to fail, even 10 years ago. Now they don't even need to put in hardware issues, just make it so you are stuck on a lower version of the OS and cannot download anything on it. Working as intended. I'm 100% sure of you could put on your own OS on it someone would've fashioned something together to make them last as long as the hardware allows,open source community is sometimes nuts like that.
