Meta is working on the same things and I think the goal here from Apple is to beat them to release by announcing early.

Apple has. A better chance of successfully pioneering the “meta verse” because they have better brand reputation and better “perceived” data ethics (we know it’s not true) than Facebook/Meta. I don’t think anybody trusts Zuckerberg with their data. For some reason they trust Apple tho.
