Today is June 4th, which should be memorialized as "government officials shouldn't be jerks" day.
June 4th, 2004: Marvin Heemayer takes his armored bulldozer on a property destruction rampage, citing issues with zoning laws and access roads. Regardless of whether or not he was justified, it was an impressive feat of engineering and this line from the notes he left are worth remembering:
I was always willing to be reasonable until I had to be unreasonable. Sometimes reasonable men must do unreasonable things.
June 4th, 1989: CCP, kills hundreds of people and injures thousands of people (at a minimum) clearing out Tiananmen Square. The internet does declare, however, that it is important to note that this incident was Not Real Communism(tm) and rather the result of capitalism, or climate change, or the patriarchy, or transphobia or whatever the Current Day(tm) buzzword is.
Are ya winning, son?
