Did people see this?
I really enjoyed the first Spiderverse film and went into this thinking it will be good but man ... the movie really craps on Peter Parker. We have black spidermen and black spiderwomen and fat women spiderwomen and fat black women spiderwomen and shaved head spiderwomen ...
Anyone but Peter Parker except a small showing by the one from the last film at the end. And the entire movie is about how Miles is an "anomaly" and it should have been Pete in his universe as well. Just shoving down our throat how Peter Parker shouldn't be Spiderman.
Not to mention all the #BLM, trans lives matter, crapping on capitalism, etc in the background ... like it's all so tiring. I hate it.
IT used to be a way to make up new stories that used existing characters, but absolutely didn't fit the lore. Goofy stuff like Batman as a pirate or Punisher getting the Venom symbiote. The kind of crazy stuff that could do well, but would cause too many issues with the lore if it was part of the "official" story line.
The problem is that modern writers are lazy and incompetent.
Yes, exactly. There used to be some great Elseworlds stories, like Superman: Red Son, exploring "what if Kal-El landed in the Soviet Union?" or Batman: In Darkest Knight, asking "What if Bruce Wayne got the Green Lantern ring instead of Hal Jordan?" That last one is the source of that old "Overpowered" demotivational poster meme you've probably seen.
But this? This is crap, meant only to say "step aside, whitey, the REAL stars of the show are here!"
Always remember:
Peter Parker is Spider-Man.
Miles Morales is Miles Morales.
