their kids found success at school then professionally

This is a continued failure of understanding statistics that undermines this point everytime someone tries to make it. Correlation is not causation. Neither is your sample size controlled enough to be remotely saying anything you want it to say. IQ isn't the only factor in these people's success. Not by a long shot, as dozens of things are influencing them both upwards and downwards beyond just their capability to learn.

More importantly, you can be successful without a high IQ. You don't need 140 IQ to be a 6 figure making success story. You just need a good enough one to not be a dribbling retard.

A guy with a mid level 100 IQ can with significant luck and effort become a doctor, which is almost certainly the case with those fresh off the boat Asians. Not often, but perfectly capable. But I'd guess you only remember the success stories and not the Asians who didn't achieve any of that and thereby don't stick out in your mind.

IQ can't really be improved in your lifetime, its mostly genetic. What can improve is your capability to wield it. Like everything else in life, you practice with the thing you want to be good with and magically you get good at using it. A guy with an average IQ might not ever reach the mega heights of a Prodigal 150 IQ Master, but he has a good chance of going further than they guy by becoming incredibly proficient at using his 100 IQ to its fullest, while the Prodigy could end up a bum by never making any real use of that 150 (and go around asking a bunch of former "Gifted" kids how often that burnout happens, because its the norm).

Discovering that academic success is ultimately meaningless and the world is a horrifyingly cruel place is a difficult mountain to climb for the 115-130 bracket.

I think worse than discovering that academic success is meaningless, is discovering that the journey of it is the only real value. As in, learning the skills, discipline and personality necessary to become moderately academically successful which are then easily transcribed to adulthood and working life.

So for those at the 130 area and above they not only got the useless prize, they also accidentally skipped the entire purpose and screwed themselves into a much worse place than someone at the 100-110 range.
