I was watching this show about a guy whose mother has disappeared. The cops go over to ask about her, and the guy puts his hands up and says "don't shoot." They tell him they're looking for his mother, and they've come to ask if he knows where she is. He keeps dancing around, asking them not to shoot him.

I didn't see the end, but it seemed like he was the killer. Maybe he was afraid they were going to deliver instant justice.
