It's more like :

Banana fangirls show you that picture and tell you "Bananas are great. Everyone wants to see bananas. Apples suck. They should be gotten rid of and their fans should die."

Then everyone who likes apples pretends to like bananas, but the original fans of bananas are mad and want to make a legal distinction between new fans of bananas and themselves, and if you don't support them doing that you're just an apple lover.
