The only reason it's going to upheave society anywhere is because of cost-cutting, it's that simple. I think the employers know that AI isn't all that great as long as it does what it's supposed to and they can churn out shitty products with said AI they'll use it and advertise it as amazing.
I mean I'm not even necessarily complaining about this because it's going to flood the markets with shit and it will make it all the more easier for even decent stuff to be advertised to people. What is annoying though is it's made it become all the more necessary to document your work to prove your legit. Pretty soon you're not going to be able to get away with just posting finished artwork as an example you'll have to post accompanying WIPs too.
"AI" is amazing... At the one extremely limited and specific thing the model is trained for, and as long as the thing it's trained for has any kind of order and consistency to it.
If you need to separate unlabelled data into groups or extrapolate future data points it's incredible. Anything else it's useless.
That's exactly right, you're one of the ones that gets it, the only reason normies think it's great now is because they're having it do some very specific things. Once they start inevitably trying to automate everything to cut down on labour costs it's going to be a disaster.
