It was hilarious watching this guy try (and fail) to debate Lazorpig, to the point Pig just stopped giving a shit and started IRL shitposting because why bother with a guy who is that poorly informed on the issue.
LazerPig shitting on hyped up defense topics is one of faggotry's greatest contributions to the discourse.
He wasn't entirely fair with the A-10 but I agree he made a number of good points about the fact that the A-10's BRRRRT gun is basically obsolete in modern warfare.
A-10 fire-and-forget Maverick missiles >>> Su-24s and Su-25s lobbing unguided rocket volleys as currently. No one should really care about the gun, it's a bonus.
You are correct.
However, US ground support doctrine shifting towards precision guided weapons launched from high altitude resulted in the A-10 losing all its advantages versus the F-16 in this role.
While the A-10 can lift more ordinance, the F-16 is much faster so it can show up to the fight much sooner.
Ironically, at high altitudes, the F-16 is more survivable since it can dodge SAMs while the slower A-10 really can't.
I say all this as a lover of the A-10. But the role it was designed to serve no longer exists in modern warfare, thanks to PGMs.
I think we should sell our A-10s to allies instead of scrapping them. They would be highly effective in the Pacific in a low-level anti-shipping & possible anti-sub role.
