I never had anyone suspended for getting beat up, but they did suspend people for fighting back. If it looked like you were both swinging, if there were witnesses to that, they'd suspend you. However, if you just ran away you wouldn't get suspended.
We never had anything on video. If they had surveillance, they never reviewed it for us. There had to be witnesses. So one way to fight is just fight with only witnesses who wouldn't rat you out around. Easier said than done.
I don't know about the details of the sex offender registry, but many delinquents go into adulthood with a clean record. You could get a job because they can't pull up juvie stuff on a background check, I don't think.

From my experience, you had to prove you didn't fight back, because the school assumed you did, so you had to prove your innocence.
