That's the most believable part of the story. I get a text that says "come to 11871 Fukyu Street" and don't double-check it, I could see remembering 11781 instead, or the like. I'm being generous in the wording and assuming it was a friend of the younger twins, not his friend.
Of course, my first instinct on arriving at a place would not be to attempt to open the door of a stranger's house at a shrug 'til midnight, it'd be to text the person and say "I'm here outside at the car, give some quick goodbyes, but Wendys closes in 20 minutes so don't take forever."
Then when I do ring a doorbell, I then move to stand rather far back from the doorway, to ensure any peephole, window, or security camera can get a good look at me, I still don't attempt to open the door.
