NEVER disclose your race to your employer. They can't force you, as it is a violation of employment law.
They will try to use other means to determine your race, including code-checking (how you talk), and your name and interests. But, at the very least, don't make it easier for them.
Internet bonus points if you rename yourself Llamar on all of your legal documents though...
Why not disclose a wrong race?
Because the department still considers it "buy in" to the racket. Their words. You're choosing to voluntarily participate in the system, therefore they need more funding to support you, also you still get counted in their statistics. They might even be able to punish you for lying if you identify as a different race in other ways, or on other legal documents.
You you don't identify your race, they can't actually use you in their statistics, or rationalize compensation decisions against/for you. And again, if it looks like people aren't participating, it means that their departments shouldn't be funded.
What if you identify as racefluid?
Fired for racism. They won't accept Trans-Black yet.
