I am pretty sure UK proved that you can get to CTRO quite early, but they were working from a nonce affinity/national identity errosion angle with a semi functional police state build, which NZ has copied sans the nonce affinity, unless I missed that part. The UK run is also leveraging the "brown up/white down" mechanic made famous by the SA run, but SA was never 1st world in my opinion, nor have they achieved complete societal collapse.
