That's the thing, that's just a sad attitude to have, I'm not talking about being a cunt and pushing LGBT bullshit or being woke of course, I hope they maintain other aspects of their culture. The mask wearing is a perfect example, it's hyper-conformity and I can't stand conformists. If I'm not bothering anyone and doing my own thing why should it matter to people? These days though even in western countries it's not enough to just keep to yourself, you have to virtue signal aggressively and that's what mask wearing was really about.
It's so bad in Japan sometimes you have for example schools that have been caught making students dye their hair black because they don't look Japanese enough, that's pretty fucked. it's a very rigid society that they live in and I bet it's part of why people are developing mental health problems among other things. Don't get me started on the extreme work ethic they have there as well which really is a problem.
Chris Broad on his youtube channel AbroadInJapan red pilled me quite a bit on Japan because he doesn't bullshit about the country. I'm quite happy to plug his channel because of that, he pointed out as an example of from his own experiences the Japanese friends he made weren't 'typical' Japanese. So very much by Japanese standards non-conformists.
As a foreigner you would have a little bit more leeway, especially if you live in a big city and not a rural area. It's kind of expected that foreigners act like dumb barbarians because they're stupid and can't help it, and young people think that's cool even if they couldn't get away with the same behavior. I'm just saying don't let that be the only thing stopping you from living there if you really want to because it won't affect you much and you can make those non-conformist friends.
Yeah but it's still shit, I definitely wouldn't feel comfortable there because I'm from Yorkshire. We're kind of the opposite of the Japanese in terms of how we socialise and we're very upfront with each other to the point we offend the southerners :P others might call that blunt. As a result the excessive politeness and attitude of "Keep your opinions to yourself" would really rub me the wrong way especially if they got backstabby about it. I don't even like that kind of behaviour when westerners do it to, I feel it's rather snake like.
