I don’t think anyone expected anything different, this trope of wahman having to show man mc the ropes has been around since the early 2000s when we pretended 95 pound women could knock out 200+ pound men with flying acrobatic kicks and shit. Women must be men, but better, in every media format to compensate for modern women being men, but glaringly worse, in the real world.
In Wolves, male wolf cubs will let the female cubs win in play fighting, but when they grow up the strongest, most badass wolf wins (although in small packs it's just the parents cooperating to raise the kids and no fighting for hierarchy).
These woke guys had helicopter parents, participation awards, could retake tests any number of times so they never grew up and that's reflected in these shows and movies. They're making childish adult characters.
Peach besting Mario could be okay if they were kid Peach and kid Mario, but they're portrayed as adults so Mario should be the badass.
