It never made sense that our education system was so terrible and yet the world's elite always wanted to steal over here and take advantage of it. And contrary to popular belief, that's not just at the college level and up. They may enroll in private school, though.
The schooling at good schools has been world class for my whole lifetime. You could do no better than a big name public magnet or private high school in the US and then of course university. I didn't have it quite that good, so don't think I'm bragging. But I did get to know a lot of people, and the ones who were best served by their formal education were the students of private, usually religious schools. Largely because of the amount of academic freedom it offered them at an earlier age than most kids get it in public school.
