I'm about to head out again, so I won't go into as much detail as I might otherwise, but I think a big component is just that women tend to be easily led by The Narrative. They'll worship any mainstream ideology. Women tend to worship interracial relationships, gays, Muslims, immigrants, the whole thing. And, on the other side, you'll wee women going "trad" when they often don't even know what that entails. It's also why female Nazis were a thing, and ISIS brides, and the like. Women make great extremists.
Women are easily led, and they're very social, so if they're told gays are great, they'll worship them, and they'll make a big deal about it to show of to their friends/rivals that they're on the Right Side.
