Its a classic deflection. Look at all the stories about how evil crack was in the 80s. Its all "these poor women, they had kids and were trying (lol) to turn their life around, but just kept ending up turning tricks for crack."

No one gives a shit about these kids, only giving pity parties for women to absolve them of any wrong doing.
