I have never understood why Disney as a company has ever courted this group. Their primary target audience was families. And this group can’t produce offspring. And when they started courting them they couldn’t legally get married.
"Disney Adults" are a massive portion of their audience and have been for decades. These are people who all skew Left and are an immediate financial gain, instead of needing to court a child who then brings a parent to pay.
The parks especially, which are constantly filled with complaints about adult people hogging up things so much kids can't experience a lot of it.
A family won't spend their entire life's worth on your product. They'll see a few movies, buy a few toys, maybe go to the park once as a big saved up expenditure. Its a long term strategy that can fail if they don't become a coomsoomer hooked on nostalgia for a movie they saw as a kid.
A Disney Adult will spend 10s of thousands a year and will absolutely support whatever bullshit you shovel at them, and even defend it online for you for free. Its a far less risky investment with far more short term profit.
In a few decades when all the Disney Adults (whose existence sprung out of the 80s/90s big movies) die out, we will likely see if that changes.

Seams a lot easier to get more “Disney adults” to just keep targeting a family.
