I know we focus on the trans issue here, which makes sense, given that one actually has biological consequences, and it’s certainly… Concerning, especially with the explosion of teenage girls deciding they are “trans” or “non-binary” or “queer”, but…
The drag thing, man… Even beyond the “drag queen story time” shit, they’re everywhere…
It’s not even online, it’s fucking ubiquitous in Australian metros. Ads, billboards, “drag queen bingo” at pubs, bars and every casino in the country; every public library (in cities) has to have “story time”…
I just don’t get this. It’s the most obnoxious, in-your-face “LGBTQ” thing I have ever seen, even beyond gay marriage.
I know this varies by country, but my impression is that the UK, US and Canada are pretty damn similar in this respect.
Conspiracy theories aside, this just seems like a very strange thing to me. Even as a “cultural signifier”, it’s still just bizarre, lol…
I've never understood this. I personally don't know anyone who watches Drag Race. I personally don't know anyone who goes to drag shows, drag story time, etc. But clearly people ARE going, and clearly straight people must be going or watching too. Who is the demographic?
(I'm assuming it's mostly middle class+ white basic bitches.)
Not to go all Imp, here, but it is remarkable how feminised society has become, even in the last decade...
Like, the change is huge...
I think that's a part of what we're seeing here. Women, for whatever fucking reason, at least pretend to like drag. They're the main audience for it. As they are, obviously, for women's sports. And so very much of "wokeness"...
For whatever reason, society now caters almost entirely to what these mostly upper middle class women like, enjoy, are "good" at, etc.
I think it's at least partly why education has largely fallen off a cliff for young white men. And of course shit like Onlyfans and Twitch, for a start. But it goes way beyond that, too...
Fucking weird that they would make drag specifically "their" thing, though. Even most fucking "queens" would admit that was never the intention...
It's very odd.
Men fight back, so they're making a deeply anti-male society. Simple as. Almost all women, no matter how "tough" or "strong" they are, will simply go with the flow. They're a tyrant's dream.
I know a few. They all fit your brackets description there to a tee, yes.
Or like, "wannabe" middle class. Say, someone who grew up in New Jersey but spends all of their spare time hanging out in Upper Manhattan (but the Australian equivalent of this). Which seems somehow worse. I know a few like that, too. Mostly women. And yeah, they "like" shit like Drag Race...
I don't think I know any straight men who would admit to it, though. What they do in their "me time", sure, I don't know, but I've literally never met a straight man who would say "Oh yeah, I go to drag shows without my girlfriend"...
So there's that, I guess.
I very, very much disagree on "only"...
And like, well, let's say "sexuality" plays a pretty big part, too, for like, the vast majority of them...
So... Not sure I agree, tbh.
But I sort of see your point. They're not, or shouldn't be, a "protected group", at least, in that sense, yes...
