What is ts shit? Nobody thinks banning kiddie drag shows will eliminate Shakespeare.
Unless I'm wrong. I shouldn't be wrong. There is nothing in these new laws that would suggest I'm wrong. The only conclusion is that people like OP want it to be true. Why? Because they view "the arts" as carte blanche for any behavior; in this case exposing children to drag (or burlesques or whatever they call strippers these days).
I love Shakespeare; these folks hate him. That is why they attach the idea of an actor wearing a mask to to a drag queen gyrating for children.
Edit: I kinda regret the previous line: "Nobody thinks banning kiddie drag shows will eliminate Shakespeare." Its the same thing progressives say, but I'm not lying.
Even if the law overreached, it's still their fault. Freedom and responsibility go hand-in-hand. It's not possible to write a perfect law or policy, let alone enforce it. Nevertheless, some things have to be stopped. Demonic pedophile clowns is definitely one of those things. If people can't make the decision to expel those creatures on their own, then it will have to be by force, and the first stage of force is legal force.
The problem is that they think we're like them. They think we'll re-define "adult cabaret entertainment" to include wearing a pink shirt, or having a lezbo buzz cut.
They can't imagine that we actually mean what we are saying, and actually are trying to use a consistent definition.
The religious right of the 90s was a double-edged sword. Knowing people who had Pokemon and Yugioh cards destroyed because of the satanic panic, while some of the degen shit has come to life, idk if there would be as much degen shit if not for people reflexively going against the religious right of the 90s.
I almost wonder if the Evangelist movement wsa the result of Boomers going into a kind of 'religious woke' moment. They and the Greatest Generation were always quite unthinkingly authoritarian; and never really had the capacity to make any religious, theological, or metaphysical Christian arguments that made any sense.
They're making shit up like normal. Just like when they claimed that the word gay would be banned in classrooms.
No, you can't tell the children about how you sucked dick in the parking lot because you are "authentically queer". This is not the same as "banning the word gay".
