Few people would actually participate in the "console war" on their own, so marketing teams, media, and shills create this idea that it already exists and you must pick a side and be loyal to it. Which then works in all the competition psychology they spent billions in the sports industry mastering to get people to buy shit they don't want and fight people they don't care about.
