Got it recommended by a normie, so I am suspicious. Especially since it is Nickelodeon, but it is also from 2005-2008, so maybe it is not woke. Still can be shit though, which is why I am asking.

ATLA is one of the very few shows that I would weather have watched it than do some big activity. Like the first time I saw it I was amazed at it's awesomeness and had to go somewhere with my family. I honestly can't remember what it was we did, but I remember that I had to miss the show.
There is a story arch in it that the creators don't even realize happened. Two of the major characters are in a matriarchal society, and it's them dealing with new cultures that don't follow their ways. The girl was basically a leader in her tribe even though she was 12 and has a hard time when people tell her no, or don't do as she says. She also thinks less of men a lot.
Her older brother is the only teenage boy in their entire tribe, and is trying to find his usefulness in a very sexist world. It takes a lot for him to become his full self, and then does amazing things. He doesn't have powers, just brains and the will to become the best. He literally learns engineering, masters military tactics with that engineering, and then plans out a full attack multiple times on enemies. His younger sister still has a hard time accepting him as the man he is, because she still thinks of him as men are children.
The creators thought they made a feminist, and didn't realize what was actually shown.
It's an absolutely amazing show, and has made me cry several times. Go see it.
This reads like it is worth drawing attention to it. Thanks, sounds good.
