100% tho this sort of cowardice is not limited to liberals -- at least historically. For instance many were sent to Vietnam by politicians who knew the war was hopeless. (which is to say there wasn't political will to prosecute it to the conclusion). Similarly sent to Iraq for political/economic reasons.
