Nothing any individual can do in their daily life is going to impact climate change.
It seems that personal suffering is some kind of coping. Like when they spend 10 minutes cleaning the food off some 1/10th ounce container lid to recycle it their brain registers this as doing something about climate change instead of the reality that it's totally wasted time and effort that means nothing.
I think this is why they are opposed to nuclear. If we actually went big for nuclear power we wouldn't need to make sacrifices and live like misers, but they need that to cope.
