The changes to the sacraments I didn't get into? Here are some of the issues with on-the-hand communion:
1 - It's seen as a bit irreverent to touch it with your own hands and to take it while standing, while kneeling down is seen as more reverential.
2 - Taking it in the hand creates a higher risk of dropping and then trampling the body of our Lord Jesus Christ. Important to note that in on-the-tongue there is often a tray placed under your chin just in case too, which further diminishes that risk.
3 - Giving it in the hand creates a risk of theft and desecration. Taking it on the tongue protects against that.
All things considered, it's easy to see why traditionalists would strongly prefer on-the-tongue. It's their tradition also. There doesn't seem a good need to use on the hand and it's not offering any benefits, we're not under such heavy persecution that we need to be surreptitious about it.
