If elites push things too far out of step with the people, you get a backlash like you saw with Trump.

A backlash which then achieves absolutely nothing, because he's sabotaged and foiled at very turn.

However, the troons are now getting in the way of their mainstream control by shifting swing voters to the right, and are also engaging in a lot of friendly fire, so SOME of these elites have decided it's time to rein in their weapon.

Seems likely. But that means that the 'voters' don't have any say, as the Princeton study has shown.

I can't think of a single good candidate who lost. DeSantis absolutely crushed it in Florida. All the high profile losses were Trump-endorsed candidates who had a lot of flaws. These bad candidates dragged the whole side down, too, because the media could run nonstop headlines about how "ULTRA MAGA" the republican slate was.

It may be my bias, but I think it was abortion. Or maybe it's mail-in voting. Who knows?

Yes and I've told you that fighting back against the long march through the institutions is a generational struggle. We currently have no easy answer to it. The eventual answer will be that we need to strip as much power away from the bureaucracy as possible so they lack opportunities to abuse it.

Well... good luck. We're in uncharted territory.

Trump accomplished a great deal. Just because you don't get everything, doesn't mean nothing you did mattered.

Trump having broken their minds will yield benefits for years to come since it set up the Right for further victories. We need to move on from Trump, though. He was the hammer. He broke them, but you need a different kind of leader to pick up the pieces. If you're familiar with Dune, Trump was like our Beast Rabban, and whoever comes next - likely DeSantis but maybe someone else - would be Feyd.

While Trump was "president", your SAT added an "adversity score" to help keep out whites and Asians even more.

Yeah, sure, those 3 Justices are pretty great. And Trump exposing the media for the corrupt mess that it is is also good. But for the rest, it seems that the supposed powers of the presidency are non-existent, and that Princeton was right after all.

I'm not, but they sound like Fremen. My worst fear is Trump losing and then running as a third party, or turning on the nominee. And don't tell me sore loser laws. That's no comfort at all.

Trump is already losing popularity thanks to his lame attacks on other Republicans. It worked in 2016 because those other republicans were the same old establishment fucks the base was sick of. This new crop of Republicans are much more in tune with the base, and are actually popular and well-liked, unlike the charisma black hole that is Ted Cruz, or the neoptism hire Jeb Bush.

Trump attacking DeSantis and Hayley is costing him. If he keeps going like this, he will be dead in the water within 6 months. He also has the loser stink on him.

He won't run 3rd party if he can't win, out of spite, because he still needs Republican support to protect him from prison. He can't make his "brand" toxic to 70%+ of Americans. He's not a principled person. He will do whatever helps his status and legacy the most, and being a traitor won't help that.

Ted Cruz is more charismatic than DeSantis. I like the guy, but he has no charisma.

Trump attacking DeSantis and Hayley is costing him.

Haley is a psychotic, warmongering neocon joke. If DeSantis follows her, I don't think he stands any chance.

Stop the wishful thinking. You're just saying this because you want to persuade people to back DeSantis. Trump can and will run as a third party candidate (he'll probably be dead by the time they transfer him to prison), or at least not back DeSantis, and that is a nightmare scenario. Take your medicine, support Trump, and it will be DeSantis's turn in 2028.

If DeSantis is not a neocon, would I prefer him over Trump? Yes. But no, because Trump will run as a third party.
