So if I was to guess, this is because Japanese media is gaining popularity so are trying to latch onto their popularity with stuff like this produced, I'm guessing, in the West.
Which won't work for the obvious reason, Asia is extremely racist, for good historical reasons. Even when it's other Asians they know what usually happens when large numbers of them appear in their lands so good look trying to convince them overwise.
It's government funded* propaganda. No popular demand needed. They're just a few years behind us now. No stopping it unless the "far right" rises up or convinces enough normies how poisonous this is.
(*Also by scaring elderly people into paying the TV fee if they don't want to be fined.)
