I'm actually surprised a bit by the first recommendation because it's not fucking stupid. I've done a ton of this stuff because I'm cheap and find it illogical to pour money out the door for example to move hot and cold temperature in/out when I can keep that temperature where I want it. I couldn't give a shit about carbon footprint though, I care about the exchange of my inflated dollars for energy.

Electric vehicles are bullshit though. It's a ploy to get people to take out loans from banks and subsidies from government to give more money to the elites. One of my cars is nice old school naturally aspirated with mostly analog controls. I will be keeping that. Hell, I've been poking around looking for another such car I can fix up a bit.
