Correct. A lot of women want to seem like they're "one of the boys" and get in on cheering for their favorite sports teams. Women actually buy the paraphernalia too. The flags they throw on vehicles. Jerseys to wear. Women get totally immersed in the consumerism of it all. Guys might sit at a bar over some beers and talk sports but women will go out and buy sport stuff to be part of the cool crew cheering the sports on, not to mention it's women allowing their BFs/Husbands to go out to the bar.

Frankly, this is one of the reasons I've stopped partaking in sports altogether. It has become another overly consumerized pastime and women are actually an underlying driver of it. Men are "allowed" to like sports around women because it's considered acceptable and cool to like sports by women. Women get in on it too. You can bring women to sports games and they like it. You're allowed to have friends over to watch the game and the woman will cook you and the boys chicken wings because it's game night. Women can't even tell you why any of it is going on but they seem entirely caught up in the "cultural" aspect of it. Like they want to tell their girlfriends how their boyfriend/husband was watching the game because that means she has a defacto default as-expected boyfriend/husband they can all roll their eyes at. Then come into work and all the girls can talk about watching the game. What a joke.

Sport watching just to be a part of the sport watching culture is cringe imo. Just another way to signal you're nothing but an NPC.
