I'd unironically respect him more if he converted rather than living as a man whose own daughters view him as a lesser outsider, and tell him so straight to his face.

Haven't read the article yet. Woooooow I thought he did convert. You marry into a religious family, don't convert, and complain about being an outsider? It would be like me, a non-Muslim marrying into a Muslim family and complaining about my situation.

On the one hand I want to call him a rube but on the other it is difficult to think in terms of groups and cultures when yours tries to beat any sense of it out of you. I'm sure he would say "Americans have no culture."
