Believe me I thought about that a lot already, because apparently other dentists do offer animal or artificial grafts. Animal or human probably gross me out equally.
The human sourced bone is supposed to have the highest compatibility (less chance of failure) while the artificial material has the lowest compatibility. It just sits there to hold the implant in place but doesn't trigger growth of new bone.
Personally, if it were animal bones, I don't think I'd care that much. I've had animal bones in my mouth before. Every time I eat chicken wings, or when I was younger and my mother would place large bones from the drumsticks of a turkey in a pot to flavour a soup. Sure, it might be different to use those bones as teeth, but it's not like it'd be the first time I've had them in my mouth. The only reason we don't consider bones food is because our teeth and jaws aren't made to grind them up.
But if there's a lesser compatibility like you say, then I can see why you wouldn't want to do it. If you're going to pay to have something like that inserted in your dentures, then you want something that will work and won't require multiple operations.
