Borderlands 3 took something like 9? months to crack.
I'm I'm glad I waited because that game wasn't worth the money. Basically it was only playable if you turned off all the voice and skipped every cutscene the "stronk empowerd wamen" were so insufferable.
Yeah, absolutely true. I bought that game full price because a friend of mine was excited about it. The story was one of the worst I've ever seen, largely because it felt more like I was a guest at Disney World being escorted by robots pretending that I'm actually involved in the plot.
Not sure what the writers were thinking with that game. Beat the main story once, was baffled, and never touched it again.
I played 2/3 of the way through the pirated version before the story demoralized me so much I just turned it off, couldn't be arsed to learn the patterns of the penn and teller boss.
Then it came out for free on Epic. I gave it another go since I was researching FPS game mechanics. This time playing the Hunter character who has the EZ-mode pet revive ability. Turning off voice and skipping every cutscene.
Its a shame because the shooting mechanics, the mantling and sliding movement is really good. The skills have a huge variety, and the gun and itemization is pretty incredible along with well crafted enemy behaviors.
If there was an "endless" roguelite mode that didn't have a story wouldn't even have minded paying for it.
