Sounds like the kind of movie that pretty much nobody would like. It's meant to be woke as fuck, so the anti-woke people that are still clinging to Netflix like the retards they are hate it on principle. But meanwhile, the woke who it's meant to appeal to hate it too because it has the gall to say that maybe black people and Muslims aren't perfect little angels and are capable of being incredibly hateful themselves, it's supportive of interracial and interreligious relationships that blacks, Jews, and Muslims alike all oppose, AND it equates Jews with whites. I suppose typical white lefties would enjoy it until they hear the uproar from the people they are purported to be allies to, in which they'll join the bandwagon decrying it.
There are legitimate concerns when people of color enter romantic relationships with white people—or any relationship, for that matter. However, You People never lays those issues out accurately. Instead, the Black characters come off as unreasonably stubborn and borderline hateful toward white people.
Sounds accurate to me, lady. And I bet it's accurate of yourself too. Particularly since you said this:
While Ezra’s parents display some ignorance, they’re at the very least accepting of his relationship. On the other hand, it’s frustrating that the main antagonist in this film is an ultra-conservative Black man. It’s almost like Barris and Hill, who wrote the film together, don’t realize that the stigma they’re exploring is a result of white racism.
The kind of attitude where you blame whites for everything means you're already not very keen to them and are judging them the second they enter your field of vision. I doubt you'd be very approving if you saw one of your fellow blacks holding hands with a white either.
