This wouldn't be an issue if all these 'cultures' assimilated into British/English culture and nationality
The Indians and a lot of the Caribbeans managed to do this with little issue (in fact the British welcomed them as they finally got food with flavour too lol) but the problems came when it was Africans and Middle Easterners arriving, carving out their own enclaves and holding onto past grudges and mentalities. They should have been rejected from staying.
Shows what you know about traditional english food, lol. Ever heard of apple pie? Yorkshire pudding? How about Shepherds pie, christmas morning wife-saver? Mustard roast beef?
North European food has tonnes of sours, pickles, an amazing pastry tradition and some really fantastic stews. The equal of any equatorial nation. It's just not the same set of flavours and it's what westerns are already accustomed to, so the foreign stuff feels so much more exotic.

It's a joke the British make themselves:
Why did the British have an empire spanning the globe?
Well they'd just invented the spice rack and needed to fill it...
Sorry but pickled fish is vile and the only reason you'd eat it is that you lack the technology to safely store meats over the winter.
pickled herring is great, bud. You've just had the shit stuff.
English food is awful bud. Everyone knows it.
I include all Irish food in this. Guinness is solid though.
